Spring '11 Update

Rode a small section from Lowell to Yankee, but got bored with riding in the flat, punchy windy mostly pave roads.

See Info post below for updated material.

Info

A route in the spirit of self supported biking- part pave/gravel grinder, part wooded single track heaven.

Preliminary reports put it at ~574 miles for the lower peninsula. Currently unverified south of M-20, I hope to have the remaining runs done by the end of April. Until then, the preliminary tracks are posted below.

Still need to track the UP to Wisco for a full through ride. Much work to do.

/* Preliminary Stats */

574 Miles
29494' Ascent

Yep, it's flat. Prepare to pedal.

/* Events */

Initially this will be offered as an ITT (Individual Time Trial)- no entry fee, no registration, no prizes, no support.

Update: Since these trails are fun and roads, not so much- the initial offering of this route will stand at 333 miles from M-20 in White Cloud to Mackinaw City. If you're interested in a group start or have intents, please leave a comment or contact me otherwise.

Rules- In order to be accredited time, you must follow the generally accepted rules of self support ala AZT, CTR, GDR, etc. Do. It. Yourself.

When- The 'best' time to do this event is still under debate. Spring and Summer can be wet and bug riddled. Fall offers firm trails and beautiful colors, sprinkled with a hint of hunter orange. Winter would present it's own set of challenges. Choose wisely.
